Private Cancer Navigation · Mill Valley, California
Expert oncology guidance, plain-language translation of complex medical information, and insurance advocacy — from a physician who has seen both sides of the system.
Marc Nash, M.D. trained and practiced as a radiation oncologist at UCSF for six years, working at the highest levels of academic and private oncology care. He has seen firsthand how overwhelming a cancer diagnosis can be — not just medically, but administratively, emotionally, and logistically.
After leaving clinical practice, Dr. Nash spent nearly a decade working in clinical AI and health technology, including years inside the prior authorization and insurance systems that govern oncology care. He understands how those systems work, where they fail patients, and how to navigate them effectively.
Bay Area Oncology Navigation brings that rare combination of clinical depth and insider health-system knowledge directly to patients and families who need it most.
Oncologists are extraordinary clinicians. They are not, however, able to sit with a family for two hours walking through a genomic report line by line, or help a patient prepare a thorough list of questions before a critical appointment. The clinic visit moves quickly. The questions don't stop.
Marc Nash, M.D. exists to fill that space — to be the knowledgeable, unhurried presence that patients deserve, and that the current healthcare system simply cannot provide.
All services are provided in an educational and advocacy capacity. Bay Area Oncology Navigation does not diagnose, treat, or prescribe, and does not replace your oncology team.
When questions arise about coverage for advanced treatments — proton therapy, SBRT, specialized imaging — understanding the clinical criteria involved can be complex. Dr. Nash reviews your coverage documentation, explains the relevant clinical landscape in plain language, and prepares a clear summary your treating physician can reference when communicating with your care team and insurer.
Pathology reports. Genomic panels. Radiology reads. These documents contain critical information about your situation — written in language designed for clinicians, not patients. A 90-minute session translates your reports into plain language, followed by a written summary and a structured list of questions for your next oncology appointment.
For families who want a knowledgeable guide throughout a treatment journey. Your retainer includes coverage process support, appointment preparation, report translation as new results arrive, and priority email access with responses within 24 hours. Available to a small number of clients at a time to ensure genuine availability and attention.
